Eliza Doolittle Advert:
In part of our media course we have to create an ancillary text which involves a Digi-Pak and an advert for our music video/song. In this case I shall be analyzing closely Eliza Doolittle s advert, and picking out key points which could influence my own work too. As we can see with this advert "Eliza Doolittle" uses bold bright colour's straight away from the codes and conventions of her stylized genre of music you can see that she is going to be a pop artist of some kind. Usually bright colour's create the emotions within the album that the artist has made. These bright colour's are rather retro and kind of lime greenish/luminous. We can tell its going to have that kind of old swinging jazz feel too because of the image that has been used. The legs and the roller skates with tights. This is something unusual. To me those kind of images reminds me of Jazzy Retro vibes that you see in the older times. Which could suggest the style that Eliza Doolittle likes and how her music has been influenced from those ages. The text also is rather bold. We can tell straight away that "Eliza Doolittle" is the star image here because her name is a complete different colour which makes it pop against the background.
From looking at this advert I would say that the target audience would be around 15-30 years of age. It's a rather playful atmosphere however it could be shown as a little flirtatious because the legs are showing in tights which creates that feminism atmosphere. It's a rather bold, quirky atmosphere which just screams summer and fun (created by the roller-blades). Linking in with the roller blades she is using her music and visual here as one of her songs is actually called "Roller-blades" so straight away any fan would know that this advert is linking in with that pacific song from the use of Goodwin's Theory.
We can see that she has chosen a particular colour theme of Green, Red and black which is something that Erica and myself need to think about when we create our advert, coming up with a colour theme to keep those bright vibes of summer up, also with that touch of playfulness. Even though black on this advert is great because its bold it would suite our theme also because its more of a bold statement and suits the folk/jazz aspects of having that shade and tone/ highlights throughout. However I think if we were going to take inspiration from this Advert it would be from the placing of certain texts, If we were to use 1 colour for our background I just don't think it would suit our song of have that eye catching element which tells you what kind of genre it is.
Overall this advert for "Eliza Doolittle" is perfect because it uses that symbolic imagery which is shown in her music video "Roller blades" and also it creates that upbeat retro/jazzy atmosphere. It's kind of laid back and not a very busy composition which can also reflect her personality throughout her songs suggesting their feelgood songs that you could easily chill with.
